I am fortunate to live in one of the most amazing places on earth, Berkeley, California. I moved from Paris in September 1980 with my wife Diana whom I married in 1975, and my daughter Elisa born a few months earlier. Two years later, our son Adrian was born in San Francisco. Elisa is now a practicing pediatrician in the Bay Area and Adrian a real estate entrepreneur in Los Angeles.

I am a self-taught photographer.  I have been taking pictures since 1971 when my wife Diana loaned me her Nikkormat when I went to Kenya for the first time.  Three weeks later, I was hooked, bought a used Nikon F and never stopped taking pictures since. Prior to this event, I had been interested mostly in fashion photography, thanks to a friend of mine who was the assistant of a Paris based professional fashion photographer.  My favorite photographers were Jean Loup Sieff, Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton.  I started with digital photography about 15 years ago when my kids gave me my first digital camera, an Olympus D-340R – 1.3 Megapixel.  I quickly joined the NAPP and began learning with Scott Kelby.

After retiring in 2011 from running the business I founded in 1983
I was able to become a full time photographer. My gear is very simple: a Nikon D80 with a 18-200 / 3.5-5.6 for landscape photography, mainly the sunsets at Cesar Chavez Park and a Nikon Coolpix S7000 for all my street photography.  My post processing workflow is mostly based on Dan Margulis teaching. http://www.ledet.com/margulis/ppw

Photography is a big part of my life, it helps me to see things around me with a different focus.  I enjoy the fact that it is a never ending learning challenge. I love retouching pictures, and publishing books through Blurb either from my pictures or from other sources, as well as making videos which I upload on my YouTube Chanel.
